Quality & Safety

Our Dedication to Quality and Patient Safety

Kossuth Regional Health Center uses care guidelines based on the best available medical research along with collaboration and teamwork among the medical and surgical specialists within the MercyOne Network. These guidelines are also referred to as "evidence based medicine" or "best practice guidelines." Our Electronic Health Record allows information to be securely shared amongst physicians and non-physician providers at any time.

National Quality Priorities

Kossuth Regional Health Center focuses its quality efforts around national and state priorities. The following organizations provide guidelines that form the backbone of the work we carry out to help ensure our patients receive quality care:

Patient Safety

Patient safety is defined as providing reliable, effective care to prevent harm, injury, and preventable death to all patients in our organization. Every patient has the right to expect that their care will be appropriately provided in a safe manner by competent staff in a safe environment. Your care and safety are our priority.

Our electronic medical record further improves patient safety by checking for drug interactions and using "order sets" based on "best practices".

Patient Satisfaction

Those who have been to Kossuth Regional Health Center for clinic services, outpatient services, surgery, home health services, an inpatient stay or an emergency room visit may have received a patient satisfaction survey in the mail. We encourage patients to complete the surveys because they help us make decisions that affect you. Survey responses are confidential as a private research firm tabulates them. The combined results of the survey responses help us make positive changes to our services, processes and facilities.

Quality Data Resources for Discharge Planning

Per U.S. Code of Federal Regulations, Kossuth Regional Health Center provides access to these approved quality transparency websites that accurately measure quality data of HHAs, SNFs, IRFs and LTCH so that our patients and/or their representative can select a post-acute provider that best fits the patient's health care goals:
