Health care concerns highlighted at IHA Legislative DayKossuth Regional Health Center staff, volunteers, students and guests made a trip to Des Moines on February 24 for the annual Iowa Hospital Association Legislative Day.
The group of more than 40 people began the day by visiting the Polk County Convention Complex, where they enjoyed a meal, entertainment and speakers. The KRHC group made up just a portion of the 600 hospital advocates who gathered at the convention center and then the Iowa Capitol to be part of the health care advocacy process.
Hospital advocates were armed with information about the issues facing Iowa hospitals. In particular, they learned about IHA’s proposed provider assessment, which would help offset the major Medicaid provider cuts hospital could be facing as a result of state budget issues.
Upon arriving at the capitol, the KRHC group was able to sit down with Representative Delores Mertz and Senator Jack Kibbie to discuss health care issues and answer many other questions. March 1, 2010 |
