Valet parking program in need of volunteers

Kossuth Regional Health Center is continuing to look for volunteers to help launch a new a valet parking service for patients and visitors to the hospital and clinic.

“We are still in need of a few more willing volunteers to join our crew of drivers,” said KRHC Administrator Scott Curtis. “We hope to get started fairly soon. Many of our patients would appreciate and benefit from having the valet parking program up and going before the winter weather hits.”

KRHC is in need of male or female volunteers who enjoy interacting with patients and visitors. Volunteers must be able to spend time on their feet and willing to walk outside in all types of weather, as they will make many trips back and forth from the parking lot. A valid driver’s license is required.

“One concern people have voiced is the issue of insurance coverage. Under Iowa law all drivers are required to have auto insurance, which is why we ask that our volunteers be insured. However, if a valet parker was involved in a fender bender or accident while volunteering, they would be covered by KRHC’s insurance,” said Curtis.

Responsibilities of a valet parking volunteer include aiding people in and out of their vehicles as needed, parking and retrieving vehicles, and offering directions or assistance to people entering KRHC.
